Gettysburg National 19th Century Base Ball Festival
History of the Festival
The Gettysburg National 19th Century Base Ball Festival grew out of the old Washington DC Festival that took place in our Nation's capital from 2006-2009. It took place in back of the Washington Monument in full site of the White House and Jefferson Memorial. While it was a great town to play in, it wasn't hospitable for a full-fledged festival.
3 teams from the eastern part of the Mid-Atlantic wanted to play a few teams from the Pittsburgh area but none wanted to travel to the other. They decided to meet halfway in between. After a few calls, we had set up a great small event in one of the most historic towns in America. The First event had 6 teams and now there are over 30 that play each summer during the 3rd weekend in July. Don't miss this great family tradition that shows fans what base ball was like before million-dollar contracts, televisions...and gloves!
